0Each Domus 580W panel uses 0.58 kWh per hour when running at full power. However, when connected to a thermostat, the panel does not usually run continuously for the full heating period.
Once the room reaches the set temperature, the thermostat switches the panel off. Even after switching off, the panel and the warmed surfaces in the room continue to release gentle residual heat for around 30 minutes. The heat becomes softer during this time, but the room can still feel warm and comfortable.
This is one of the advantages of far infrared heating. Walls, floors, furniture and surrounding surfaces absorb the warmth and slowly release it back into the space, helping maintain comfort while reducing active electricity use.
As a practical estimate, if you want around 8 hours of comfortable heating, the panel may only need to actively run for approximately 5–6 hours. Actual use depends on insulation, room layout, thermostat settings, outside temperature and the month of the year.

Installation

The Heating Solution
Royal Infrared Heating® recommended a flexible heating setup using Domus far infrared panel heaters and Avis S smart plug-in thermostats.
The system was designed to provide steady, comfortable warmth while reducing reliance on air conditioning and avoiding the dry air associated with AC heating.
Living Area
For the living area of approximately 39m², the following products were installed:
1 x Domus 900W panel
1 x Domus 580W panel
2 x Avis S smart plug-in thermostats
The Domus 900W panel was mounted near the sofa to act as the main heater during the winter months.
The Domus 580W panel was installed approximately 30cm above the floor on an exterior wall near the window. This helped reduce the effect of cold draughts and warm the wall itself, improving comfort in the room.
Each panel was connected to its own Avis S smart plug-in thermostat, allowing independent temperature control for different areas of the living space.
Bedroom
For the bedroom of approximately 13m², the following was installed:
1 x Domus 580W panel
The panel was positioned in front of the bed to provide direct, comfortable warmth during the colder months.
Installation
The homeowners installed the infrared heating system themselves using the supplied wall-mounting kit and plug-in setup.
The process was straightforward, with no major building work required. The plug-in thermostats made it easy to control each panel separately without complicated wiring.
